Ban Smoking at American Legion Halls

American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts are considered membership clubs under state law, so their facilities are exempt from the tobacco-free standards that restaurants and bars must abide by. Most posts, which dictate their own policies, allow smoking. But it's becoming an increasingly divisive issue that's not going away. There is more concern about losing members, than the health hazards of smoking and being exposed to second hand smoke. The old timers say smoking is the "military way." The younger vets are staying away.

It's time to get with the times. Ban smoking at the American Legion Posts. Smoking and second hand smoke have been proven to be fatal habits. We need to have each American Legion Post formally ban smoking within their facility. This will save lives and certainly help to increase membership within the organization.
