Hard to believe, my little girl just turned 9 years old. We had cake and presents and some of her friends over. She was so full of delight and joy. It’s such a beautiful age for birthdays. It occurred to me that I don't know when your birthday is, so belated happy birthday to you, too! Before Ella's party I got a haircut at a spot in Park Slope. These guys, three brothers, have been cutting heads there for over 50 years. The shop itself has been in the hood for over 100 years. The brothers took over the business from their father. They play jazz standards from the 1950’s and you can get a hot towel and shave. Which of course reminded me of you. In other news, have you heard of the Espen Eriksen Trio? They are a Norwegian jazz piano trio. The music is sweet, sad, spatial, and little strange and good to play at night when streets are quiet and the kids have all gone to bed and there's javascript to do.
